INTRODUCTION

This started off as my own personal journal of my trip to Brazil.

Since my return, I have been asked by so many wanting information on how to go about getting to the healing sanctuary in Brazil, as there is so little information available in English. I have written my journal including information you may need along the way, should you wish to make your own journey. I hope this journal will be of help.

Joao Teixeira de Faria (Joao De Deus) treats hundreds of people per day, and has treated millions of people in over 30 years. He has cured people of everything from cancer to Aids, has made the blind see and quadriplegics walk. Up until now we have known little of what goes on over the other side of the world, but as more visitors return, this knowledge has spread to our small part of the world.

Joao De Deus (John of God) is arguably the most powerful medium alive at this time. A medium is a person who is 'a spiritual intermediary between the living and the dead'. Joao communicates with Spirit by incorporating the Spirit Entity. He is literally taken over by the Spirit and in doing so, loses consciousness, and goes into a type of trance. His body is used as a means of conducting physical surgery; healing the sick by the spirit entities who work through him.

We have all lived many lives before. If you take away the physical body you are left with your soul, your spirit. Spirit is with us all the time. Our bodies are protected by energy fields, there are seven layers, and seven major chakras. Abusing the body with poor diet, alcohol, drugs, and unclean living weaken these fields, and disease begins in these outer layers.

At the age of sixteen Joao accepted the responsibility of devoting his life to Spirit for the purpose of healing the sick. Joao has had a difficult life. Over the years he has been beaten, arrested, persecuted, attempts have been made on his life, with much personal loss and sadness. He must also observe through the eyes of the entities, the anguish of every single soul which comes before him. Joao has no memory of his actions whilst in entity, and relies on videotapes to review his healing work. He is a simple man. He does not speak English, cannot read or write, has no medical education, and yet he has been chosen to help heal so many in the world.

Thousands of people flock to the small village of Abadiania in central Brazil to the healing centre called Casa de Dom Inácio (The House of Dom Inacio) named after the principal entity, which has been operating for around 12 years. Many have travelled by plane, many who live in Brazil have had to endure a 35 hour bus journey.

The sick queue for hours, often up to hundreds per day. Joao will work until the last person is seen, there is no charge and donations are not accepted. Everyone queues including the rich and the famous - this is one place that everyone is treated equally, there are no short cuts.

There are large numbers of volunteers who give their time for free to enable the Centre to operate. Most of these people have been healed by Joao and are grateful to offer their time and help heal others. Many of the volunteers are doctors or specialists in Brazil, who take time away from their own practices to travel to Abadiania.

The Centre is open Wednesday to Friday from 8am where the sick wait and queue daily. Some are seeing Joao for the first time, some are here for a treatment review. Joao is in another room where he meditates and prepares for the day of healing.

The Centre is built on a massive outcrop of natural quartz which provides a powerful energy. Underground is a natural spring and around the area many herbs are grown for the herbal cures prescribed by the entities.

The house itself is designed around a central hall where everyone congregates each day. In the hall, his operations are videotaped as Joao remembers nothing once he is incorporated in Entity, and these tapes can be purchased for R$10.

Through the main hall are two "current rooms" filled with bench seats where the sick and many of the house mediums sit and meditate. This meditation provides the current to help the entities in their work, and helps raise your spiritual awareness before healing. The third room is the operation room where you receive the invisible operations.

It is through these rooms that you queue to come before Joao in Entity, who, within seconds after holding your hand, has taken a blueprint of your body and illness. He will then prescribe herbs, an operation, or instructions on life changes.

There are rules to be followed at the Casa; break these rules and your healing will be impaired. After an operation and while taking the prescribed herbs from the centre, you must not have pork, chilli, fertilized eggs, bananas or alcohol. The reason for this is that pork is a spiritually unclean meat, chilli inflames the system, eggs carry hormones which interfere with the healing, bananas are treated with a chemical which also interferes with the healing, and alcohol disrupts the healing process. Often herbs are prescribed that will take many months to finish, it is important that this diet is adhered to.

The rule most often broken is "no sex for forty days" after your first operation. This is because the energies of the body are in healing and are not to be disturbed by the strong physical and spiritual energies of sex.

Disobeying these rules can result in a cessation of the healing and sometimes a worsening of the ailment, as you can often get worse before you get better after surgery.

There are two types of surgery, invisible and visible. The outcome of both types of surgery is usually the same.
Invisible operations usually leave no external signs of entry. The operations occur internally and x-rays have often shown the internal incision and sutures, but there are no external marks.

Visible operations are performed twice daily in the main hall for public demonstration. Operations are performed to enable the people to see the entities at work, and provide physical proof that there is another dimension. The entities prepare the body for surgery, and using basic surgical utensils, there is little or no pain and yet there is no anaesthetic. In over 35 years of surgery, there has never been a case of blood poisoning. There is little blood, even from large incisions. If a patient requests visible surgery, they must meet the requirements and remain in Brazil for 3 months following the operation. What you experience during surgery varies for each person. Some feel very little, some feel pain. What you experience does not relate to the level of the healing you have received.

Joao incorporates 35 different entities, who in their physical lives were doctors, surgeons, healers and psychologists who are of such a high soul elevation, they need no longer reincarnate to our physical plane. Joao can incorporate only one entity at a time but can change entity at any time, depending on what entity is required by the person being treated and their condition.

At the Centre you may purchase food, religious icons, water, crystals and videotapes, all the money going to keeping the centre running. Everyone is encouraged to wear white while at the Centre. You cannot drink the water here and bottled mineral water is sold everywhere. The bottled water at the centre has been blessed and can be purchased for about R$1 per large bottle, this water does aid in your healing. Soup is given free daily around 11am, this soup has been blessed and is delicious. Prescribed herbs are purchased at the centre for R$10 per bottle, these herbs are not labelled and it is wise to take stickers to label the order you are to take them. It is important that only you touch the contents of these herbs, for this reason we chose not to declare them in our baggage. Video tapes of surgeries can be purchased for R$10 but remember to ask well ahead to have them converted into English, as often they forget to have them ready in time.

Joao has been the study of many foreign scientific teams from Russia, Germany, USA, Japan and France, the most extensive and intense study was a two year study which was completed and presented and made available to the public in 1995, unfortunately it has never been translated into English. He encourages research into his healing abilities in the hope that medical science can utilise some of the knowledge in the treatment of mankind. Scientists have studied him in detail, performed pathological tests to reveal that the tumours, substances and tissues removed from the sick are indeed human tissues from the individuals.

All results have been positively conclusive and the scientists convinced of his capabilities, but bewildered as to what to do with the data. It is very difficult for a scientifically trained mind to comprehend how he is able to perform such amazing operations with no medical experience whatsoever. One study concludes that it is their recommendation that science should urgently devote more serious research into this matter, which could affect the life of millions throughout the world.

Television documentary crews are seen regularly at the centre and Joao encourages them to film the visible operations, often standing aside for them to film the operation up close.

SPIRITUAL JOURNEY TO SOUTH AMERICA

My story began in 1995, when I was diagnosed with degeneration of the hip joints. After sometime in pain, it was found that I was born with hips that do not fit into the sockets correctly which had degenerated and worn away at the surrounding bone. After two pregnancies I also had a substantial separation of the pubic bone which made my spine and joints unstable. Due to this condition I had arthritis in my joints, degeneration in the hips, spine and neck. The doctors advised that I would continue to deteriorate until I was old enough to have both hips replaced.

Having always been reasonably fit and having led a more natural and alternative lifestyle, I decided to find an alternative to pain killers and hopefully, a better quality of life. I have tried many therapies from massage, laser treatment, acupuncture, physiotherapy, reiki, herbal supplements, 3 weeks in hospital to rehabilitate the body etc that literally ran into a few thousand dollars over time. Slowly each therapist and specialist would send me on to someone else, until no one would take on my treatment. Eventually, all exercise was removed, walking on the beach was removed, my lifestyle was decreased with each therapist until I felt abandoned, hopeless and depressed. My children wished I would get better, so I could do things other mothers would do, like get down on the floor and play dolls etc. My greatest wish was to find someone who would see me through the treatments, answer my questions, and guide me in the right direction - this was not to be. Pain is a depressing, controlling and debilitating condition that can sink an otherwise positive person into the depths of despair.

On 1 June 1999 I travelled to Auckland for yet another therapy and treatment on my hips and visited a friend who owns and operates a spiritual development school. Whilst waiting to see her, I browsed at the shelf of books for sale, not actually wanting a book at that particular time, I was surprised to be led to a book behind others on the shelf called "The Miracle Man" by Robert Pellegrino-Estrich. Upon picking up the book, I bought it instantly, not knowing the contents. My mother had passed away the previous November, I truly believe she led me to find this book.

Usually a slow reader, I read this book within a day and knew that I wanted to go to Brazil. My husband Craig, although a believer, was a little taken back at the idea, and frankly thought the desire would decrease after I settled down from the amazing book I had read. This was not to be the case, with my mother as my driving force, she helped make this trip a reality.

Craig and I have a dear friend Drew, who at 38 years old has Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia. This type of leukemia is rare for his age and there is no cure available with orthodox medicine. He had been ill for some time and the doctors held out little hope. My mother had left me some money in her will - what was left was enough for myself and my friend Drew to make this trip. When Craig realised I was totally committed to this trip, he gave me his full support, although he did not share the same faith in a recovery. I am grateful to have a husband who loves and supports me, and has the spiritual awareness to have helped me through so much. It is difficult to explain, but I had 100% faith in this trip to Brazil, even though I knew very little of what I was getting myself into. My mother came to me in my thoughts and stressed that this trip must take place in August. This left very little time for planning, but I knew I must go during August as the window of opportunity was there. Craig's mum Noeline, would come and look after my children of 5 & 7 years, run the house and look after Craig. Without this wonderful lady, this trip would not have been possible.

I defied all logic and advice and travelled to the high plateau region of central Brazil. What I saw and experienced there was to change my life forever. The connection with Spirit was totally overwhelming!

For some people it is difficult to comprehend the existence of Spirit, and that they have access to energies and knowledge that we in the physical form disbelieve or find hard to understand. The entities read each person's 'blueprint', scanning the body immediately for medical problems. The entities can read everything, your thoughts, your soul, past lives, karma, intentions and current activities. When you come before the entities, you literally open your soul.

My journal was written as follows:

TUESDAY
Woke up a little nervous and apprehensive. Nervous about the trip ahead, and Drew's condition. Called in and said goodbye to Noeline, who cried and nearly sent me off as well. Left with Craig and the girls for Tauranga airport for my flight to Auckland. Sarena was starting to get emotional, so I asked Craig to take them home before the flight, as I to was finding it difficult. I gave the girls a gift each to take home and put by the bed to remember Mummy, and to feel close to me. This kept them from crying and gave me a chance to hold it together. I sat for 30 minutes, feeling quite alone, without my family and yet a sense of great adventure, wisdom and spiritual love.

After a very bumpy flight, I arrived in Auckland where my brother David picked me up and off we went to the International Terminal. My friend Mary-Jane arrived and we sat and chatted over a drink. Final check-in was at 2pm and by this time it was 2.30pm and still no sign of Drew. My concern over his health and how late it was had made me very nervous. After several phone calls, he turned up and we checked in. Drew was limping badly from a growth on his right thigh which covered the complete groin area and half way down his thigh. This lump appeared two weeks before the trip and even though the specialist wanted to give this area aggressive chemotherapy, Drew declined. The lump was causing a lot of pain and made it difficult to walk - Drew's skin colour was between yellow and grey and he looked very unwell.

Between the worry of missing our flight, and his condition, I had a huge knot in my stomach. What on earth was I doing? The odds of him surviving the flight were very poor. We were told that as the plane climbed to 5000 feet and the cabin was decompressed, this would reduce the oxygen level on the plane.
As Drew had so few red blood cells to provide oxygen, he would most likely have immediate cardiac arrest - we could only put our faith in the spiritual help around us.

We checked in and then Drew asked both David and I to do him a favour, he asked us to witness and sign his will so he could give it to his Dad at the airport. By this time I was really stressed. My brother hugged me and asked "Please come back to me Sis". After all, we were all that was left of our immediate family. I felt like crying, running and jumping into the nearest hole. Drew's father stressed that I must not feel that it is my responsibility should anything happen to Drew on the flight - we were giving him a chance, and chances should be taken. I didn't know if I felt any relief or not, all I knew was that I wanted my friend to make the trip alive and well.

Well, we have made it on board, the plane is not full so we take a middle row with 4 seats to stretch out, which is great. We hold hands tightly and pray for all its worth as the plane climbs, we reach 5000 feet and Drew suddenly has no nose bleeds and is breathing great - suddenly we know we are going to be okay. Dinner arrives, consisting of vegetarian pasta and fruit salad which was lovely. We decide it is safe to get some sleep, Drew is doing really well, there is a very strong feeling of calmness since we boarded, and I know we are being helped on this journey, I now feel I can relax for the first time.

We are now 7 hours into the trip and 2 movies later, cannot sleep. I have a lot of hip pain from sitting. I have been getting up and stretching but I feel tired and sore. Drew is going to stretch out and get some sleep - he looks up and said "I am so happy, I can't sleep", the relief is immense.

We are now nearly 10 hours into the trip, Drew has started to sweat and go from being very cold to hot very quickly, but amazingly stopped it in its tracks (with a little help of course). He has been having bad night sweats for the last week. The lump on his leg is very painful. As for me, everything in my back and hips throb, have had no sleep but have my second wind now. Breakfast arrives - cornflakes, croissant and a hot vegetarian meal (tofu/mushrooms), could not stomach the hot meal so I ate the cereal, including Drew's and his orange juice as he cannot eat this.

We are now nearing Buenos Aires, thank goodness. Drew has had no nose bleeds and the trip has been kind to him. I can't wait to be on the ground, I thought I would never see the end of this flight, but my friend is safe and well and I thank our helpers for that, and thank God we made it!

We have landed in Buenos Aires to a surprise temperature of 8 degrees C, but a lovely day. We have an extremely long walk through the terminals, could not find a wheelchair for Drew who walked very slow in a great deal of pain. Typical of Aerolineas Argentinas, they have cancelled our connecting flight as it was not full. We tried to get on another plane, but they were all full. We have a wait of 9 hours in the airport. The airline gave us a voucher for dinner for the delay. We are very tired and managed 1 hours sleep on the seats in the airport, which didn't help my back any. I tried many times to phone home on my international Telecom card, but you still go through an operator who does not speak English, I could not get past the Spanish operator. Hardly anyone at the airport speaks English and the few who do, are very hard to understand. Finally we are boarding a bus to take us across the airport to our connecting Aerolineas flight to Rio de Janeiro. We got the small plane for the 3½ hour flight which was very cramped, no movie. Dinner was very small and basic and the airline staff were very hard to understand. All I can think about is a stretch and a very hot shower in Rio.

Arrived in Rio de Janeiro, and took a taxi to Hotel De Bret in Copacabana. We did not arrive at the hotel until 1.15am, very exhausted. We checked into our rooms which were very old and basic, but clean. The room had a small fridge, bathroom, tv but no jug or coffee. The view from the window over Copacabana was incredible. Unfortunately the shower was lukewarm at best, but at least I got one. It is quite cool, and I had to put an extra blanket on the bed. I phoned home, unpacked and went to bed.
