Locks of Love by Grainne McEntee
As Christmas nears & thoughts turn to gifts, here's a novel idea. Earlier this year I was inspired by my friend Valynda when she said 'my hair is almost ready to cut for Locks of Love'. I was intrigued. It transpires that there's a charity called 'Locks of Love' in Florida which accepts donations of hair for sick children who need wigs. I did some research on www.locksoflove.org & quickly decided to send my long tresses to the USA. Here's a few basic guidelines from their website....
HOW TO DONATE
10 inches measured tip to tip is the minimum length needed for a hairpiece.
Hair must be in a ponytail or braid before it is cut. Hair must be clean and completely dry before it is mailed in. Place the ponytail or braid inside of a plastic bag, and then inside of a padded envelope.
If you wish to receive our personalized thank-you card, please fill out the hair donation form, or write your name and address on a full size separate sheet of paper and include inside the envelope.
We cannot acknowledge donors who do not send their name and address according to these instructions.
All hair donations must be mailed to Locks of Love at:
234 Southern Blvd.
West Palm Beach, FL 33405
The donation is anonymous. However you do receive a card saying that you made a difference. 80% of donations are from other children. How great is that!
As I live in Abadiania I went to the Entity to receive his blessing. It was Dr. Augusto. He was very happy about this.
His face lit up as he said, 'This is a great idea. You have good hair. I will send healing energy from this Casa to the child who receives your hair & I will bless you. Congratulations'
I was delighted with this unexpected result . A child gets a new hair prosthetic (which are very expensive to make) & the tireless Spirits of the Casa will work through the blessed hair. It doesn't get much better than this. Everybody wins!
