Update from Abadiânia - Rev Ernie Chu
We have just returned from Abadiânia with our group and offer the following updates for others going down:
1. The new rooms at the Sao João Hotel (owned by Luis and Beche of the Amazonas) are very nice with updated plumbing, glass shower stalls, and their own private porches. They are a bit more pricey than the Amazonas at R$72-80, and right now if you have a group, they feel a bit isolated. Also the banging during the day with the unfinished second floor is an inconvenience. They have no screens on the porch doors, so these rooms are likely to be very stuffy during the summer, and the smell of the sewer which doesn't flow at night requires a good long flush when getting up at night to reduce it. It's not a problem during the day. Food at the Amazonas is average to good, but you can't beat the location.
2. Waterfall - New improvements have been made to the path to the waterfall. The path has been cemented, some benches have been put in on the path above for those waiting, and there are ropes to hold onto along the steep parts. The waterfall is as powerful an experience as ever.
3. Medium João's birthday was celebrated by the appearance of Dom Inacio in the morning for a short time, and more than 1,500 people. The afternoon current was about 5 1/2 hours. The party featured a giant birthday cake, and a happy time for Medium João.
4. In all, a very powerful week of miracles, healing and continued growth in Abadiânia.
With love and light, Rev. Ernie Chu
